Abu Dhabi’s DAE to see $81m expansion

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The emirate of Abu Dhabi announced plans to expand the Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children (DAE).

The hospital is to see the construction of the second phase, including a new tower with a capacity of 100 beds, with a total cost of AED 300 million ($81 million), state news agency WAM reported.

“The Department of Health supports expansions of services and operational facilities that are aligned with the current market needs and in line with the capacity gaps study that was published by DOH recently which identifies the most needed medical services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” Mohamed Hamad Al Hameli, under-secretary of the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, said.

The new building, which will be inaugurated by mid-2020, will be neighbouring the current building located Abu Dhabi Gate City.

“Construction will begin in the next three months with the total number of hospital beds increasing to 225 covering various specialties,” Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, CEO and managing director of UEMedical, added.

Al Hammadi noted that the new expansion of the regional referral centre for women with high-risk pregnancy will add more than 500 new employees including 100 doctors and 200 nurses.
