Abu Dhabi’s DoT to launch AED 1.1bn road project

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transportation (DoT) on Wednesday unveiled the AED 1.131 billion Umm Lafina Road, which will link Umm Lafina Island and Reem Island to Shaikh Zayed Street.

The 10.5-kilometre new road is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2020, Abu Dhabi’s transportation department revealed.

The project represents an extension of Shaikh Zayed Street and is carried out as part of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030, DoT stated.

“The new road will link Al Reem and Umm Lafina Islands to Shaikh Zayed Street at the intersection on Dhafeer Street, and will include five bridges with a total length of four kilometres,” DoT added.

The project is set to be executed under two contracts, both should be completed within 30 months, the Abu Dhabi’s transportation department remarked.
