Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi's Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined by 1.4% year-on-year (YoY) to 108.6 points in April 2020, compared to 110.2 points in the same month of 2019, according to the latest data by the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD).
On a monthly basis, Abu Dhabi's inflation inched up by 0.9% to 108.6 points in April 2020 from 107.6 points in March.
During the first four months of 2020, the CPI decreased by 2% to 108.8 points from 111 points in the year-ago period.
The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group contributed 72.4% of the overall drop in the CPI during the January-April period, as the group's prices retreated by 4.6%.
At the same time, the furnishings and household equipment, miscellaneous goods and services, as well as food and beverage groups contributed by 18%, 15%, and 11.3%, each, of the decrease in the CPI.
It is noteworthy to highlight that in March 2020, the CPI of the emirate slid by 1.5% from 109.3% last February.
