Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The consumer price index (CPI) in the emirate of Abu Dhabi dipped 0.9% in the first four months of 2019, recording 111%, versus 112% in the year-ago period, a report released by the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) showed.
The CPI fell by 1.3% year-on-year in April, reaching 110.2% from 111.6%, according to the report.
However, the CPI inched down 0.3% month-on-month in April, as compared to 110.5% in March, the SCAD added.
Prices in the transport segment fell by 8.3% during the four-month period ended April, contributing 133.1% to the total decline in CPI, the report highlighted.
Meanwhile, prices in the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel segment dropped by 3.5%, contributing 123% to CPI’s total decrease.
Moreover, prices in the food and beverage segment fell 1.2% in the four-month period, while prices in the ready-made clothing and footwear segment slumped 9.5%.
