Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade down 5.4% in 2019

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The non-oil foreign trade of Abu Dhabi fell by AED 12.21 billion or 5.4% year-on-year to AED 213.28 billion in 2019, compared to AED 225.49 billion, according to data released by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) on Thursday.

Non-oil exports shrank by 10% to AED 57.93 billion last year from AED 64.42 billion in the previous year.

Meanwhile, the emirate’s imports went down by 9% to AED 102.52 billion over the 12-month period ended 31 December 2019, compared to AED 112.95 billion a year earlier.

On the other hand, the value of re-exports rose by 5% to AED 52.84 billion last year from AED 48.11 billion in 2018.

Saudi Arabia topped Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade partners with AED 55.27 billion.

Meanwhile, the emirate’s non-oil foreign trade with the US, China, Kuwait, France, and Bahrain reached AED 13.56 billion, AED 11.48 billion, AED 10.83 billion, AED 7.32 billion, and AED 7.09 billion, respectively.

As for December 2019, Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade rose by 2% year-on-year to AED 18.8 billion from AED 18.4 billion.
