UAE - Mubasher: The volume of Abu Dhabi's foreign trade of precious metals and gemstones increased by 34.4% to AED 5.42 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, compared to around AED 4.03 billion in the same period of 2019.
The emirate's imports of precious metals amounted to AED 2.2 billion in Q1-2020, compared to AED 514.5 million in Q1-19, according to the latest statistics by the government of Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi's exports exceeded AED 3.1 billion in the first three months of 2020, against AED 131 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
It is noteworthy to mention that during the first half of 2019, Abu Dhabi's trading of pearls and precious stones totalled AED 8.2 billion, accounting for 7.8% of its total non-oil trade volume worth AED 104.4 billion.
