Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi is targeting to achieve returns of around AED 1.2 billion ($327 million) from coastal and marine tourism by 2025, according to cruise tourism manager in Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture (TCA Abu Dhabi).
Last year we had nearly 228,000 marine tourist with returns of AED 259 million, and we target 450,000 tourists and revenues of AED 681 million by 2020, Said Al-Zahiri told reporters on the sidelines of Seatrade Middle East Cruise Forum on Tuesday.
Al-Zahiri added that they target a 10.7% annual growth rate of the number of tourists, to reach 800,000 visitor by 2025.
He also went on to show that 39% of total marine tourism comes from Europe, and that they are currently targeting more tourists from China and India in the next couple of years.
Al-Zahiri ruled out a significant effect on tourist spending due to a higher dollar price, saying that although there are some external impacts on the tourism sector in Abu Dhabi, but they have minimal influence.
