Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Air Arabia’s CEO said on Monday that his company expects a growth in its business in 2016 despite difficult economic conditions worldwide.

“We believe that we will continue growing in 2016, but we have to know that it will be a very challenging year,” the company’s CEO, Adel Abdullah, said on the side-line of the Global Aerospace Summit, held in Abu Dhabi.

Last year, Air Arabia, the only listed airline in the Dubai Financial Market, added 23 routes to its network, with more than 7.6 million passengers flew on its planes, 12% up when compared to the number of passengers of 2014.

“I think that making more profits will be a challenge in the shadow of the difficult economic conditions worldwide,” Abdullah added.

The Sharjah-based airline’s profit declined 13% in the fourth quarter of 2015 to AED 59 million ($16.06 million).
