Air Arabia to cut more jobs amid COVID-19

Dubai – Mubasher: Air Arabia has decided further layoffs across different departments, due to the economic consequences of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a company spokesperson told Reuters.

The spokesperson of the Sharjah-based airline, which has around 2,000 employees, did not mention the number of laid-off employees.

The spokesperson further remarked that the company has made efforts to prevent job cuts in previous months, and the reduction in the number of jobs was a "last alternative".

It is noteworthy to mention that in May, the airline, listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), has cut 57 jobs to protect the company from the COVID-19 impact.
