Al Dhafra Petroleum commences Haliba field’s production

UAE – Mubasher: Al Dhafra Petroleum has announced that it began crude oil production from Abu Dhabi’s Haliba field and that it discovered potential resources in three new fields in its concession area.

Located along the southeast border of Abu Dhabi, Haliba field is part of Adnoc’s strategy to increase its output to 4 million barrels per day (bpd) by the end of 2020, the UAE-based energy giant said in a statement.

“The start of production from Haliba field highlights the important role of energy cooperation in strengthening the close and deep-rooted strategic relationship between the UAE and South Korea,” Adnoc Group CEO Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said.

Al Dhafra Petroleum has discovered 1.1 billion barrels of original oil in place (OOIP) in Haliba field in addition to potential resources in three new fields; Al Humrah, Bu Tasah, and Bu Nikhelah.

“Given the utmost importance of securing a stable oil supply source to Korea, successful first oil production in Haliba field is a very meaningful event,” chairman of the trade, industry, energy, SMEs, and start-ups committee of the National Assembly of South Korea, Ilpyo Hong, stated.

Al Dhafra Petroleum is a joint venture between Adnoc (60%) and KNOC and GSE Energy (40%).
