Al Futtaim to invest AED 30m in power efficiency

Dubai – Mubasher: Al Futtaim Group, listed on Nasdaq Dubai, on Tuesday announced its plans to invest AED 20 to 30 million in boosting power consumption efficiency in its malls in 2018.

This is a supplement to its previous AED 35-million investments in malls’ power efficiency and sustainability, CEO Ghaith Shocair said in a press conference.

Al Futtaim is committed to water and electricity rationalisation, as well as generating extra power by 2040, Shocair added, according to Al Bayan newspaper.

Enova will install 12,500 solar panels to produce 1 megawatt in total in three malls owned by Al Futtaim group, which are; Emirate Mall, City Centre Mirdif, and City Centre Fujairah, Shocair announced.

These panels will generate 6,000 megawatts per annum, which will reduce operational costs by AED 80 million over the next two decades.
