Riyadh-Mubasher: Al Reef Sugar Refinery Co. is close to starting the construction work at Jizan sugar refinery, especially as the company secured a loan from Saudi Industrial Development Fund and completed all necessary licenses, Al-Madina newspaper reported.
The refinery’s commercial production will start in 2017, and the project will offer 500 job opportunities, said Chairman Abdul Khaleeq Saeed.
He added that sugar consumption in the Middle East reaches 15 million tonnes per annum (tpa).
The petroleum ministry gave the go-ahead for allocating the necessary fuel for Jizan plant which will operate with SAR 1.2 billion in capital. The plant will have a production capacity of 1 million tpa.
