Doha – Mubasher: Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDIL), a subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS), on Wednesday announced that Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine Company (N-KOM) completed the construction of a new lift-boat, Al Safliya, in Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, Qatar, and it’s expected to be launched early next year in 2016.
Al Safliya is the first self-elevating vessel in Qatar’s marine history for a Qatari owner, and to be run by Dolphin Energy Limited (DEL), according to a statement by GDIL.
The project represents another step in the strategy adopted by GDIL to diversify its assets, as the new lift-boat is the second for the Qatari company.
GDIL earlier inked a long term agreement with (DEL) to provide accommodation and platform support services.
Al Safliya, designed by Bennett Offshore for marine engineering, is equipped with two cranes, high standard accommodations for more than 130 persons, a helipad and large deck area of 800 square meters.
