Al Safwa Mubasher to provide short selling on DFM – CEO

Dubai – Mubasher: Al Safwa Mubasher is one of the brokerage firms which submitted offer to provide short selling services on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) which was launched on Sunday, said the CEO Ehab Rashad.

Short selling will raise liquidity on the stock markets, especially in the current period, Rashad added.

The new service will impact positively on investors as it will contribute to attracting further investments that will rebalance the bourses.

Short selling will reduce largely stocks speculations and will boost the UAE stock markets’ position globally.

Al Safwa Mubasher previously announced starting to provide technical short selling services on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) to be the first company which implement the services.

On Sunday, The DFM announced launching the Regulated Short Selling (RSS) and seven brokerages submitted their requests to provide the RSS service to their customers.

To implement short selling, the brokerage company must ensure that the borrowed securities are located within the client’s account prior to placing a short selling order.
