Emirates Global Aluminium Company (EGA) finalised this week an agreement to sell its advanced internally developed technology of smelting aluminum DX + Ultra to Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), for its line 6 expansion project.
The DX + Ultra technology for aluminum smelting represents the next generation of EGA technology from DX + model which generated in the company at Jebel Ali.
Alba chose DX + technology for aluminum smelting initially in December 2012 for banking feasibility study of production line No. 6, and confirmed the selection with the announcement of implementing the project in early June 2015.
Alba’s line 6 expansion project includes new production line of 1.45 km long, scheduled to boost the annual production capacity of the Bahraini aluminum company by additional 540,000 tons annually.
The construction in production line No. 6 is expected to begin in the first half of 2016, and the production of first melted metal in early 2019.
