Alba board endorses operational plan for 2016

Mubasher: The board of directors of Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) approved in a meeting held Wednesday the operational plan for the year 2016.

The company said, in a bourse filing that the plan entails difficulties ahead given the drop in aluminum prices.

Alba’s CEO Tim Murray said earlier today that his company is proceeding with its project of constructing its sixth potline, and thus will be the world’s biggest aluminum smelter.

The statement came during a business networking luncheon at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain for an overview of the company’s latest projects and business updates.

The top executive stressed that the sixth potline, with a cost estimated at $3 billion, with be an added value to the national economy and will create more jobs.

 “One of the biggest industrial projects in Bahrain, the line 6 expansion project is expected to have a big impact on the economy and new job creation,” said the CEO.
