Mubasher: Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) will issue tenders for its sixth production line in March or April 2016, said CEO Tim Murray.
He added that the tenders will include establishing a power plant and the sixth smelting line.
The construction work will start in the third or fourth quarter of 2016, immediately after awarding the tenders, Murray said.
He added that the new smelter will come on stream on 1 January 2019, to produce 514,000 metric tonnes annually. The smelter will cost $3.5 billion.
The CEO expected the company to its continue production growth in 2016, noting that the production will likely reach 980,000 metric tonnes of aluminum this year, compared with 961,000 tonnes in 2015.
