Alexandria Customs issues clearance for EGP 3.14bn cars, spare parts in April

Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Customs collected total taxes and duties of EGP 749 million for issuing customs clearance for cars and spare parts at a combined value of EGP 3.14 billion in April, the Egyptian Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Tuesday.

The state-run body collected total taxes and fees of EGP 455 million for releasing about 6,300 cars with a total value of EGP 1.75 billion in the sixteenth month of introducing zero tariffs on cars imported from the European Union (EU).

A large number of these cars were exempt from the payment of more than EGP 842 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

Additionally, Alexandria Customs collected taxes and charges of EGP 147 million for releasing 1,033 trucks, microbuses, motorcycles, and tractors valued at EGP 672 million in April.

Some of these vehicles were also exempt from the payment of EGP 53 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

The state-run body also collected taxes and charges of EGP 85 million for releasing 578 dispatches of spare parts valued at EGP 721 million, while some dispatches were exempt from the payment of EGP 15 million.
