Alexandria Customs issues clearance for EGP 4.1bn cars, spare parts in August

Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Customs issued customs clearance for private and public vehicles as well as automotive spare parts at a total value of EGP 4.108 billion in August, the Egyptian Ministry of Finance (MoF) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The state-run body collected total taxes and customs of EGP 1.073 billion for the release of these cars and spare parts in the eighth month of introducing zero tariffs on cars imported from the European Union (EU).

Alexandria Customs collected taxes and charges of EGP 624 million for releasing 8,076 private vehicles valued at EGP 2.305 billion in August.

Some of these cars were expected from the payment of taxes and customs of more than EGP 962 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

In addition, a total of 1,331 minibuses, motorcycles, and tractors valued at EGP 803 million were released with total taxes and customs of EGP 180 million, while some of these items were exempted from the payment of EGP 51 million.

The state-run body also issued customs clearance for 833 spare parts valued at EGP 1 billion in August and collected EGP 116 million in taxes and customs, whereas some dispatches were exempted from the payment of EGP 22 million.
