Amazon launces Prime services in UAE

UAE – Mubasher: Amazon.com, Inc., a leading online shopping company based in Washington, has launched its Prime service in the UAE, TimeOut Dubai reported.

The GCC state’s residents will benefit from premium delivery options, TV on demand and access to free next-day delivery on various products, according to Amazon.

The American e-commerce company said that almost 90% of its members will enjoy a 50% discount on Same Day Delivery on hundreds of thousands of products in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, and Al-Ain.

The new service costs AED 16 per month or AED 140 per year, which is comparably cheaper than GBP 7.99 per month and GBP 79 per year in the UK and $12.99 per month and $119 per year in the US.

Moreover, Prime TV provides members with access to several original shows, as well as other shows and movies.

Amazon Prime will be available for the UAE residents for only AED 12 per month until 31 October and members can also benefit from a 30-day free trial period with no obligation to buy.

It is worth noting that the US firm has been extending its footprint in the UAE over the past six weeks.

In 2017, Amazon acquired Souq, the largest e-commerce platform in the Arab world and now known as Amazon.ae, for $580 million.
