Mubasher: The Amman Stock Exchange’s (ASE) main index recorded a rise of 0.51% or 11 points in January, reaching the level of 2,147 points.
The bourse saw mixed performance over the first month of 2016, as it closed in green for 12 sessions and in red for ten.
Technical analyst Muhannad Erekat expected the index to continue its upward movement, if exceeded the resistance level of 2,140 points, and to stay above that area for several consecutive sessions.
Turnover increased 0.97% to JOD 183.13 million in January from JOD 181.37 million in December, 2015. Trading volume reached 208.46 million shares exchanged through 93,040 transactions.
Meanwhile, the financial sector rose 1.3%, and the industrial and services sectors declined by 1.54% and 0.41%, respectively.
The benchmark index closed December 2015 at the level of 2,136 points after edging up 7.15%.
