Arab nations’ exports to Brazil hit $7.6bn in 2018

Dubai – Mubasher: Brazil’s imports from the Arab countries increased by 18% to $7.6 billion during the full-year 2018, compared to $6.4 billion a year earlier, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) said on Sunday.

Brazil’s imports from the UAE hiked 200% year-on-year to $561 million in 2018, while Saudi Arabian exports to the Latin American nation accounted for $2.3 billion, up 23% from 2017, according to ABCC’s statement.

Meanwhile, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain exported goods worth $ 69 million, $212 million, $124 million and $116 million, respectively, to Brazil in 2018.

Arab exports to Brazil included mineral fuels, mineral oils, bituminous substances and mineral waxes.

“The figures for 2018 once again reflect the success of ABCC’s efforts to bolster the existing trade ties between Brazil and the Arab countries. Thanks to the shared commitment by both parties, products from Arab countries continue to find newer markets in Brazil and we expect these figures to rise further in 2019,” Rubens Hannun, president of ABCC, commented.
