Arab sell-off drags EGX down 17,700 early Thursday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday’s trading session down, pressured by Arab selling.

By 10:30 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index fell 1.43% to 17,686.62 points.

The EGX70 index dipped 0.5% to 860.38 points, while the EGX100 index slid 0.71% to 2,257 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index shed 1.51% to 2,996 points.

The bourse's trading volume amounted to around 55.48 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 208.7 million through 4,900 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 19.8 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 16.6 million and EGP 8.3 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) tumbled 1.07% to EGP 88.02, with a turnover of EGP 1.3 million.
