Arab sell-offs weigh on EGX Wednesday

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session down, pressured by Arab sell-offs.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 56.44 points, or 0.42%, finishing the session at 13,487.2 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) leveled up 0.49%to EGP 86.5, with a turnover of EGP 108.9 million.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index slipped 0.23% to 695.47 points, while the broader EGX100 index tumbled 0.36% to 1,735.88 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index slid 0.63% to 2,170 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 189.5 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 920.3 million through 22,430 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 158.8 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 33.14 million and EGP 125.6 million, respectively.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 3.3 billion and closed at EGP 777.9 billion.
