Aramco, Petronas launch corporate identity of refinery, petrochemical JVs

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Aramco and Indonesia-based Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) on Tuesday have launched the corporate identity for their joint ventures (JVs) in the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Malaysia.

About 96.54% of the refinery complex and cracker has finished, while the petrochemical facilities have completed 84.8% of their works, according to Aramco’s statement.

PIC comprises Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd (PRefChem Refining) and Pengerang Petrochemical Company Sdn Bhd (PRefChem Petrochemical)  collectively known as “PRefChem”.

“This integrated partnership marks a visionary move by two professionally-run national oil companies where both are able to leverage on each other’s strengths and share technical capabilities as well as experiences for mutual benefit,” Petronas CEO Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said.

The Malaysian state-run energy firm offers a large opportunity for Aramco to expand in PRefChem, Aramco’s president and CEO Amin Nasser stated.

In March, Aramco, the world's largest oil producer, revealed its plans to build a crude refinery and a full-fledged petrochemical complex in Malaysia via cooperating with Petronas.
