Dubai – Mubasher: International express, mail delivery, and logistics company Aramex on Sunday announced adding 10 electric vehicles (EV) to its fleet in Amman, Jordan.
With the successful rollout in Jordan, this step is part of a strategic plan set by Aramex to convert its entire fleet in the UAE, Egypt, and Lebanon over the next year to EVs, according to a company statement.
Aramex aims to “reduce operational CO2 emissions and mitigate the climate change”, which reflects its commitment to promote sustainability.
“We pride ourselves on being a leader in sustainability across the region. Protecting the environment is an integral part of our Delivering Good platform,” said Raji Hattar, chief sustainability officer at Aramex.
“Where regulations and infrastructure allow, we will be looking to introduce electric vehicles to all of the 72 markets in which we operate,” the top official added.
The logistics services provider recently completed the construction of a solar farm to generate 1.2 megawatt (MW) of power in Amman.
Currently, Aramex is transforming its Dubai warehouse facility to include similar technology, which it will generate over 7 MW of solar power.
