Aramex opens 3.2 MW solar PV plant in Dubai

Dubai – Mubasher: Aramex and IMG Solar, a subsidiary of Jordan’s Izzat Marji Group, have opened a 3.2-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) plant for a new logistics facility in Dubai.

Aramex’s new plant is located in Dubai Logistics City and comprises 9,000 solar panels, covered over a total roof area of 38,000 square metres, the Dubai-listed company said in a statement.

“We are currently planning a phase 2 of this project, aimed at increasing the capacity to 7 megawatts upon completion,” chief sustainability officer at Aramex Raji Hattar stated.

The plant’s energy yield reaches 5-gigawatt hours per year, contributing to over 3,000 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions annually, he revealed.

“Our Company has executed more than 250 solar photovoltaic plant projects in the UAE, Jordan, and Kuwait totalling at more than 30 megawatts,” general manager of IMG Solar Fadi Marji said.

IMG Solar was the project’s lead contractor, who is fully responsible for the design, supply, of material, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the solar photovoltaic plant.
