Arkan plans to increase exports to 20% of revenues

Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: Arkan Building Materials participated in the ‘Linkages Between Industries’ forum in Abu Dhabi, which was organized by Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, according to the company’s press release.

The participation came with the aim of strengthening relationships between local companies from a range of different sectors.

Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Arkan, announced that Arkan planned to increase exports to 20% of Group revenues from its product range over the next three years.

Currently exports account for 10% of Group revenues, according to the company’s statement.

Al Dhaheri confirmed that this would include entering new regional markets to create a much needed balance and protect the company from market turbulence.

The company is operating in line with the Abu Dhabi government’s development plans and Senaat plans, which aim to enhance the proportion of income generatedfrom non-oil industries, he added.

His Excellency said that Arkan is confident that it will increase its market share of the local and regional building material’s industry, despite the slowdown being witnessed by other sectors locally and globally.

Arkan was able to increase its market share by 28% in the local building materials sector and plans to improve its performance in the future after showcasing the 26 products that are manufactured in Arkan’s factories, said Abdelaziz Asad, Arkan’s chief operating officer.

Arkan’s current annual production capacity is 4.0 million metric tonnes of clinker and 5.7 million metric tonnes of cement per annum, he indicated.
