Mubasher: The Qatari Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will implement around 100 infrastructure and buildings projects within the coming two years.
The total investments of these projects amounted to QAR 40 billion ($10.9 billion), Abdullah Hamad Al Atiyya, assistant president of Ashghal, said on the sideline of the opening of the third edition of the Government Procurement and Contracting Conference and Exhibition (Moushtarayat 2018).
Organised by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), Moushtarayat 2018 takes place during the period between 23 and 25 April at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
The three-day event was attended by about 40 government and private entities.
Qatar, the world’s lowest cost major liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer, plans to invest around $20 billion in infrastructure projects over the coming 5 to 7 years, Al Atiyya added.
During the current year, Ashghal will start implementing 37 projects for developing infrastructure in the existing residential areas with a total value of QAR 13.8 billion.
By 2019, the organisation will start other 18 projects in residential areas with an overall amount of QAR 18 billion.
