Mubasher: Asian countries are the top importer of Qatar’s exports in the fourth quarter of 2017, while Japan ranked first among its peers, according to a report by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Asian countries accounted for 81.7% from Qatar’s total exports which amounted to QAR 68.47 billion ($18.8 billion) in Q4-17, while they acquired 33.1% of the GCC nation's imports which totaled QAR 32.8 billion ($9 billion), the report showed.
The Qatari trade surplus with Asia recorded QAR 45.2 billion ($12.4 billion), while the bilateral trade reached QAR 66.8 billion ($18.4 billion), the ministry's data founded.
Japan topped the list of Qatar’s export destinations with QAR 11.7 billion acquiring 17.1% of the total, followed by South Korea with QAR 11.1 billion.
As for Qatar’s imports, Chine topped the list of importers with a total amount of QAR 4 billion, representing 12.2% of Qatar’s total imports, followed by India with QAR 2 billion.
