Mubasher: Asian stocks closed Tuesday on a mixed note as the Bank of Japan (BOJ) kept its monetary policy steady.
Nikkei fell 0.7% to 17,117.07 points, and the TOPIX lost 0.6% to 1,372.07.
The BOJ has kept its commitment to raise the monetary base by 80 trillion yen, and maintained the interest rates at their current low levels, according to the bank’s website.
The yen rose by 0.5% against the dollar to reach 113.3.
Shanghai Composite Index added 1.75% to 2,859.50.
Investors are anticipating the US Federal Reserve to unveil its decision about monetary policy.
