Asian stocks rise; Shanghai hurt by economic data

Mubasher: Most Asian stocks rose on Monday, while Shanghai was impacted by negative economic data.

China’s exports declined by 6.6% year-on-year in January, and imports fell 14.4%, according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

The state’s trade balance increased to $63.3 billion in January, compared with $60.9 billion in the previous month.

Japan’s GDP fell to 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2015, compared with 1.3% in the third quarter.

At 8:24GMT, Asia Dow Index increased by 3.72% to 2,473 points, and Hang Seng index moved 3.27% higher to 18,918.

India’s Sensex index was up 2.45% to 23,550, and Singapore index gained 2.80% to 2,611.

Japan’s Nikkei climbed more than 7%, while Shanghai index fell 0.63% to 2,746.
