Mubasher: Assets of banks operating in Qatar increased 0.2% month-on-month to QAR 1,366 trillion ($350.5 billion) in January 2018, for the third month in a row, compared to QAR 1.363 trillion ($374.58 billion) a month earlier, according to the Qatar Central Bank’s (QCB) data.
Year-on-year, banks’ assets hiked 9% to QAR 1.252 trillion in the year ended on 31 December 2017.
The QCB attributed the increase of assets to the growth of Qatari banks’ mandatory reserves by 1.7% to QAR 36.59 billion in January versus QAR 35.95 billion in the previous month.
While loans rose 1.1% to QAR 920.97 billion in the first month of the year compared to QAR 911.04 billion the month before, the data showed.
