BHB falls in week amid higher liquidity

Mubasher: The benchmark index of Bahrain Bourse (BHB) edged down 0.07% or 0.94 points to reach 1,331.22 points by the week ended on 4 May when compared to the previous week.

The market’s turnover increased to about BHD 5 million this week from BHD 3.39 million in the past week, and the trading volume grew to 18 million shares from 15 million.

The insurance segment led three decliners with 1.68%, dragged by Arig which lost 4.26%; the banks sector fell by 0.7% in line with the 6.06% decline of Ithmaar Holding which was the top loser; the services segment retreated by 0.67%.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector gained 3.07%, followed by the investment and industrial sectors which levelled up by 1.1% and 0.46%, respectively.

GFH was the top winner during the week with a rise of 4.84%.

AUB was the most active stock on which 13.05 million shares were traded at a value of around BHD 3.59 million.
