Bahrain Bourse closes Thursday up on banks

Mubasher: The main index of the Bahrain Bourse ended Thursday’s trading session up 0.59% or 7.10 points to the level of 1,220.45 points, registering the third consecutive increase.

The rise was backed by 4 sectors led by banks, which rose 1.05% as Al Salam Bank - the top winner of the day - surged 9.26%, while the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) gained 1.41%.

The industry sector grew 0.6% supported by Aluminum Bahrain (ALBA), which increased 0.63%.

Trading volume more than doubled on Thursday, reaching 15.09 million shares, compared with 6.68 million on Wednesday, while turnover jumped to BHD 2.12 million from BHD 781,260 million yesterday.

Ahli United Bank recorded the highest trading value with BHD 1.4 million, while Al Salam Bank was the largest in terms of volume with 9.5 million shares traded.
