Bahrain Bourse ends week 11% lower on coronavirus fears

Mubasher: Bahrain Bourse ended the week in the red territory with its general index sliding by 181.43 points or 11.21% to close at 1,436.37 points in the week ended on 12 March.

The commercial banks, industrial, service, and investment sectors declined by 16%, 8.87%, 4.96%, and 4.48%, respectively.

At the level of stocks, Ahli United Bank BSC (AUB), GFH Financial Group BSC, and Al Salam Bank were the top losers with 17%, 13.90%, and 9.47%, in that order.

On the other hand, the market’s trading volume surged by 330.75% over the course of the week to 80.68 million shares from 18.73 million a week earlier, while the turnover increased by 181.9% to BHD 13.87 million from BHD 4.92 million.
