Mubasher: The main index of Bahrain Bourse saw a positive performance in January on the back of the stocks of investment and banks sectors.
The benchmark index went up by 6.82% gaining 83.25 points and closed at the level of 1,303.7 points.
Traded volumes decreased to 133.75 million shares compared to 211.26 million shares last month, while total turnovers increased to BHD 22.42 million from BHD 9.72 million in December.
The banks sector gained 11.58%, on the back of Ahli United Bank (AUB), the stock with the biggest weight in the banks index, which added 14.8%, while investment rose by 8.7% as GFH jumped 37.26%.
On the other hand, the industrial sector dropped 13.72% as Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) shed 14.38%, while the services sector slipped 1.15% on the back of Bahrain Telecommunications (BATELCO), and Seef Properties lost 2% and 2.8% respectively.
