Bahrain bourse breaks 5-day losing run, helped by banks

Mubasher: The Bahrain Bourse’s main index closed Tuesday on a positive note, powered by the commercial banks sector, reversing  five-session losses.

The benchmark gained 5.35 points, ending the session 0.47% higher to 1,155.8 points.

Today’s trading value recorded BHD106,600 ($2,788) after 215,400 shares were traded through 24 transactions, compared to BHD170500 ($4,459)  worth of 1.18 million shares traded in the previous session.

The market capitalisation amounted to BHD 6.850 billion ($17,908 billion).

The commercial banks sector was the only riser by adding 1%, as NBK increased 4.6% after posting its FY15 financial results.

The bank was the best performer, exchanging 70,300 shares at BHD47,800 over 11 transactions, thus closing at BHD0.680 a share.
