Bahrain bourse closes 0.13% lower

Mubasher: Bahrain's stock market closed Sunday in the red, pressured by the banking and services sectors.

The benchmark fell 1.53 points or 0.13% to reach the 1,157.42 level.

Market capitalisation stabilised at BHD 6.87 billion, while turnover rose to BHD 314,500 from BHD 137,760. Traded volume increased to 2.51 million shares, compared with 511,500 shares on Thursday.

The banking sector led decliners, with a loss of 0.22%. It was hurt by Ithmar and Ahli United Bank which dropped 4.35% and 0.72%, respectively.

The services sector also moved 0.17% lower on Trafco that was the worst performer on Sunday. The company announced cash dividends at 16 fils a share.

Al Baraka, Alba, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and Khaleeji Commercial Bank kept steady.
