Bahrain continues to boost economic development, says minister

Mubasher: Bahrain government continues to boost the local economic development and create more job opportunities to young people despite the challenges facing the region such as falling oil prices, said Minister of Finance Ahmed Al Khalifa.

He added that the government has taken some procedures to support the economic development such as increasing non-oil revenues and re-directing the subsidy to those who deserve it, in addition to cutting recurrent expenses.

The kingdom is also proceeding with the strategic projects which will help boost economic growth and offer more job opportunities to young people, the minister said.

Bahrain's gross domestic product growth is expected to fall to 2.2% in 2016 from 3.2% in 2015 and 4.5% in 2014, said the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
