Bahrain housing ministry allocates BHD 104m for construction projects in 2018

Mubasher: Bahrain has allocated a budget of BHD 104 million ($275.89 million) for establishing housing projects in 2018, statistics by the Bahraini housing ministry showed.

Around 10,000 housing units were distributed in 2018 along with 496 housing vouchers, which were delivered to beneficiaries of the East Hidd city project, according to Bahrain’s housing minister.

The total budget for such projects and programmes amounted to BHD 490 million over the past four years, Bassem Al Hamer told the Gulf nation’s Al Watan newspaper.

Overall, 25,000 units have been completed and 15,000 units are underway amid the increasing number of housing applications averaging 3,000 annually, Al Hamer added.

The varying indicators of the number of completed projects made the vertical housing an acceptable option for citizens with the launch of the fifth generation of designs, the Gulf country’s housing minister noted.
