Bahrain’s Alba set to become world’s biggest smelter - CEO

Mubasher: Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) is proceeding with its project of constructing its sixth potline, and thus will be the world’s biggest aluminum smelter said CEO Tim Murray.

The statement came during a business networking luncheon at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain for an overview of the company’s latest projects and business updates.

The top executive stressed that the sixth potline, with a cost estimated at $3 billion, with be an added value to the national economy and will create more jobs.

 “One of the biggest industrial projects in Bahrain, the line 6 expansion project is expected to have a big impact on the economy and new job creation,” said the CEO.

 “Also, at least 50pc of the new metal production is expected to be sold to existing and new Bahrain downstream customers,” he added.

Alba said earlier its net profits for the first nine months of 2015 rose by 22.3% compared with the same period a year ago.
