Bahrain’s Gulf Air eyes strategic expansion in Russia

Mubasher: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, is considering a strategic expansion in Russia, according to a statement.

This came on the sidelines of a visit by the minister of industry, commerce, and tourism of Bahrain Zayed Alzayani to Moscow during the Russian-Bahraini intergovernmental commission meeting, Gulf Air said.

Alzayani, who doubles as chairman of Gulf Air, has met with Vitaly Saveliev, chairman and CEO of Aeroflot, Russia's largest airline, in the presence of Bahraini ambassador to the Russian Federation Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al-Saati and director of network and partnerships at Gulf Air Dharminder Hunjan.

Upon the meeting, both parties have discussed possibilities of trade, economic, scientific, and technological opportunities, the state-run airline noted.

The two sides have mulled over vital issues related to the aviation sector, including the impact of passenger transport and air freight to the economy.

Both parties highlighted the importance of maintaining such discussions and visits aiming at promoting mutual cooperation and exchanging experiences.
