Bahrain’s records $883.2mn in imports

Manama - Decypha: Bahrain recorded imports worth BHD 333 million ($883.2 million) in February of 2017 with exports reaching only BHD 177 million ($469.5 million).

The top three exporter to Bahrain are: China with BHD 40 million ($106.1 million), UAE with BHD 34 million ($90.1 million), and Saudi Arabia at BHD 24 million ($63.6 million), according to Foreign Trade Report of February 2017 issued by Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

In terms of Bahrain’s exports, Saudi Arabia ranked first with BHD 45 million ($119.3 million) of value of imports, US came second with BHD35 million ($92.8 million), and the UAE with BHD20 million ($53.05 million) worth of imports.

Aluminum wires were Bahrain’s number one exported product with BHD 26 million ($68.9 million), followed by agglomerated iron ores and concentrates at BHD23 million ($61.01 million), with gold jewellery coming in third at BHD 16 million ($42.4 million).

Bahrain’s trade balance declined in February, with the value of deficit amounting to BHD 109million ($289.1 million), reported Al Bawaba.

Re-exports value for the same duration has reached BHD 47 million ($124.6 million) with Saudi Arabia ranking first in re-exports from Bahrain with BHD 17 million ($45.09 million). China came second with BHD 11 million ($29.18 million), followed by the UAE with BHD 8 million ($21.2 million).

The number one product re-exported from Bahrain was the four-wheel drive cars with BHD 11 million ($29.18 million), followed by cigarettes and vessels, with BHD 5 million ($13.2 million) and BHD 4 million ($10.6 million), respectively.
