Bahrain – Decypha: Bahrain’s tourism industry has witnessed an 8.4% increase in the third quarter in 2016, reaching 1.4 million tourists during the month of August 2016, according to data announced by the Arabian Travel Market.
Data shows that the country is forecasted to see further increase in incoming tourism by a staggering 36.2% to reach 15.8 million visitors in 2018.
These figures are confirming that the kingdom is on track to reach its previously stated target of $1 billion worth of tourism by 2020.
Expansions at Bahrain International Airport, which will amount to $1.1 billion, will double the airport capacity from 7 million to 14 million passengers per year by 2020; in addition, the kingdom shows that hotel rooms are planned to increase by 33.1%, from 12,641 to reach 16,828.
By 2026, forecasts shows that investment in tourism are expected to reach BD217.9 million.
