Bahraini shares drift lower in a week

Mubasher: Bahrain Bourse was down this week, as its main index lost 1.19% weighed by a semi-collective decline in sectors mainly industry and investment.

The index shut at 1,219.21 points, continuing its decline to the second successive week.

The market’s weekly traded value retreated to BHD 1.2 million, from BHD 3.07 million last week. Traded volume also fell to 11.54 million shares from 15.8 million shares.

The industrial sector was the biggest loser, with a drop of 4.57%, after Alba stock went down by 4.74%.

The investment sector also fell by 2.73% weighed by ABC (-6%), Esterad (-5.34%) and Al Baraka (-5%).

The banks sector lost 0.32%, as Al Salam Bank Bahrain was off 4.8%, while Ithmaar Bank and BBK fell by 3.33% and 0.94%, in a row.

Meanwhile, the insurance sector rose 2.39%, backed by Kuwait Insurance (+8.5%).
