Bahri to receive $95m VLCC in Seoul Tuesday

Riyadh - Mubasher: National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) will receive a very large crude carrier (VLCC) from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), according to, Yonhap News Agency.

The first VLCC, which was named "Amjad," will be the first among the ten VLCCs that will be delivered by the Korean company in the next two years.

Bahri will receive the carrier on Tuesday in Mokpo city, in the southern province of South Korea.

The carrier is 333-metres long, 60-metres wide and 29.4-metres high and worth between $85-95 million, the news agency reported.

In May, Bahri signed contracts with HSHI to build five VLCCs, with an option for additional five more vessels.

The VLCCs are designed in-line with the latest international technical specifications, with a capacity of 300,000 DWT per carrier.
