Bank deposits grow to EGP 5.08trn at end of October 2020

Cairo – Mubasher: Customer deposits held by the Egyptian banking sector rose by EGP 35.464 billion to reach EGP 5.088 trillion at the end of October 2020 from EGP 5.053 trillion a month earlier.

Government deposits retreated by EGP 11.3 billion to EGP 874.2 billion last October from EGP 885.44 billion in September 2020, according to a report released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Tuesday.

Local currency-denominated government deposits amounted to EGP 756.18 billion, while foreign currency-denominated government deposits reached EGP 108.96 billion.

Meanwhile, non-government deposits grew to EGP 42.139 trillion in October from EGP 41.67 trillion in September.

Local currency-denominated non-government deposits reached EGP 3.56 trillion, while foreign currency-denominated non-government deposits stood at EGP 653.85 billion.
