Banking deposits rise 1.6% in Q2 – SAMA

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's banking deposits went up 1.6% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority’s (SAMA) said in a statement.

The banking deposits rose to SAR 1.635 trillion ($436 billion) in Q2-17, the SAMA added.

The assets and liabilities of the commercial banks levelled up 1.1% to SAR 2.292 trillion by the end of Q2-17.

The liabilities of the commercial banks in the public and private sectors grew 1.6% to SAR 1.665 trillion.

SAMA’s total reserve assets tumbled 1.6% reaching SAR 1.877 trillion.

Total foreign assets fell 1.6% to reach SAR 1.868 trillion in Q2-17, and initial estimates showed a surplus of SAR 23.4 billion in the current account balance during Q1-17, against a deficit of SAR 76.2 billion in the corresponding period in the year earlier.
