Banks nudge ADX higher in early trade

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) rose in Wednesday’s morning trade, spurred by banks.

At 11:00am UAE time, the benchmark gained 0.14% or 6.09 points to reach 4,215.24.

The local markets are expected to see normal profit-taking especially the stocks which witnessed strong rallies over the last period, analysts told Mubasher.

Eshraq was the top gainer with a rise of nearly 3.64%, and most active with a traded volume of 4.18 million shares and a turnover of AED 9.63 million.

The banking sector edged up 0.64%, fuelled by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and First Gulf which climbed 1.33% and 1.22%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the telecom sector declined by 0.62%, hurt by Etisalat decline.

A total of36.05  million shares changed hands at a turnover of AED 40.81 million.
